CAMERON– This spring throughout Texas the county offices of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service are conducting Issue Forums to identify critical issues facing the people of their county that can be addressed through Extension education.

You can go to the following website and submit your issues http://extensionissues.tamu.edu or your can stop by the Milam County Extension Office at 100 E. 1st Street in Cameron and submit your issues on our computers. Your input is needed to identify critical issues in the areas of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H and Youth Development and Community Development for future programming.

Last week we started the process of identifying critical issues by conducting the Milam County Issue Forum. Twentynine persons from throughout the county identified issues for Milam County, but you can still have input through the website. The top issues were:

Agriculture and Natural Resources: 1. Threat of taking away Ag Sale Exemptions; 2. Feral Hogs

Family and Consumer Sciences: 1. Lack of knowledge about resources available in the community; 2. Lack of Exercise

4-H and Youth: 1. How to keep youth involved and interested; 2. Provide more interactive events; 3. Involve former 4-Hers to share the value of their experiences

Community Development: 1. Leadership willing to do what it takes to grow; 2. Good Jobs
