East Texans dominate Dewberry
Cameron natives Gerardo Moreno and Robert Smith left the prairies of Milam County for the pine forests of East Texas, but they came back in a big way Saturday.
Moreno won the inaugural 10K event at the 12th annual Dewberry Jam Fun Run, sponsored by Alpha Tau Delta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi which raised $5,000 for the sorority’s upgrade projects for Rockdale parks. Full Story

Benefit May 7 to help 2007 RHS grad
A benefit w ill be held Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Thorndale Fireman’s Hall to raise funds for Joseph Joh n son, 22, who ha s been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Stage II and has no medical insurance.

Community Easter egg hunt Saturday
A ll youngsters of the community are invited to the annual Community Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23 at the Gause Baptist Church. A short program will be held in the sanctuary, followed by the hunt and serving of refreshments. Each participant needs to bring their eggs and some type of refreshment to the church or Coats Grocery by 9:30 a.m. so the older youth can hide them. Full Story

Paint Milam Purple
Friday, April 29, is Paint the County Purple Day. Relay For Life of Milam County committee is hoping to get everyone in the county involved by wearing purple this day.
