Reporter/Mike Brown Buddy Baggerly (L) shows John Zamora the champion brisket. Reporter/Mike Brown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6525 held its annual spring Barbecue Cookoff Saturday at the post home on US 79 under picture-perfect weather.

Results were listed as follows:

Brisket—1. Buddy Baggerly; 2. Ray Hurt.

Beans—1. Kayrinn Taylor; 2. Buddy Baggerly; 3. James Wilson; DA last—“ Let the Good Times Roll.”

Chicken—1. John Zamora; 2. Ray Hurt; 3. J. D. Blackmon; DA last—Buddy Baggerly.

Ribs—1. John Zamora; 2. Buddy Baggerly; 3. Ray Hurt; DA last—Leslie Magee.

Events during the day also included a bake sale and silent auction by the post’s Ladies Auxiliary.
