Yoakum

Memorial services for Anne Yoakum, 75, of Rockdale were held Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Chaplains Bruce Mercer and Margaret Clemings of VistaCare officiating.

Ms. Yoakum died Tuesday, April 5, in Winnie L. Nursing Home in Cameron.

She was born April 14, 1935, in Lockhart to Averil Chester and Julia Lucille (Wells) Welch.

Ms. Yoakum lived most of her life in Rockdale. She also lived in San Gabriel and attended school in Thorndale, graduating from Thorndale High School.

She managed Yogie’s Drive- In and, in recent years, she was a clerk for the Department of Human Services, Texas Workforce Commission, B&D Pharmacy and then Clinic Pharmacy.

Ms. Yoakum was a former member of Church of the Lord in Buckholts and Church of the Crossroads in Thorndale.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, S.T. “Bud” McQueen.

Survivors are three daughters, Phyllis Hiney and husband Joey of Thorndale, Kathy Culpepper and husband Wayne of Anderson, Annette Whitmore of Cameron; five grandchildren, Tassie Pendleton, Trey Johnson, Lani Morton, Jessica Whitmore, all of Rockdale, Garrett Meyer of Kingsville; and a great-grandchild, Kyla Pendleton of Rockdale.
