Reporter/Teresa Ging The Thor ndale Lady Dogs ended their season with an exciting 3-2 win over Lago Vista on Tuesday night. The team finishes 13-13 on the year and 8- 6 in 27AA play.

With two outs in the top of the seventh and runners on second and third, senior center fielder Robyn Jost makes a diving catch to end the game.

Fellow senior Kim Leschber tossed the win in the final game of her high school career. She was 13-10 on the season.

On Fr iday, the Lady Dogs lost 11-1 on the road to district champion Rogers.

“ We went toe to toe w it h the district champs for sour innings,” said Lady Dogs head coach Lance Betak said.

Rogers was up 1- 0 until the top of the third when Thorndale tied things up.

Meagan Cuba had was one for two at the plate with a triple and scored the team’s only run of the night.

The Lady Eagles put up seven runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth for the run-rule win and end to the Lady Dogs’ hopes of making the playoffs.

Thorndale will lose eight seniors to graduation.

“ They (seniors) have been a big part of the team the three years I have been the head coach and next year will almost be like starting over filling their positions,” Betak said.

Senior members of the Thornd ale softball team are Kim Leschber, Mirah Knapek, Margie Llana, Petra Garcia, Roby Jost, Shelby Stolte, Adriana Reyes and Monique Valdez.
