Area athletes spread out over state sites
The dreams of a lifetime begin to take shape next week when area track and field athletes put their efforts on the line at regional meets to earn a trip the UIL state track meet.
Led by 2010 state entrants- Daniel Brooks and Le’Raven Clark, the Tiger track team visits Humble, while Milano and Thorndale head south to San Antonio and Converse Judson Stadium. Full Story
Tigers end season on high note
Blue batters avoid cellar by nixing Navasota
While the season did not go the way they would have wanted, the Rockdale Tigers ended it on a positive note by handling Navasota 3-1 Friday night at Tiger Field in the season finale.
The Tigers finish up 7-18-1 on the year and avoided the basement in District 23-3A with the victory and a 3-7 mark.

Milano boys playoff bound, finish second
Eagles destroy district champion Thrall 13-1
THRALL–The Milano Eagles sewed up second place in District 26A on Tuesday night with a 13-1 upset over league champion Thrall. Granger is the third place team.
Jordan Hinistroza went the distance for Milano (12-4, 8-2), striking out eight, walking four and giving up four hits in five innings of work. Full Story

Bulldogs playoff hopes end with loss to Eagles
Thorndale will not see post season for the first time in a decade
Thorndale’s first year back in Class 2A took its toll on the school’s most consistent program as the Bulldog baseball team missed out the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
Thorndale, who has been to the state tournament in five of the past six seasons, finishes the season at 17-9 overall and 7-7 in District 27-2A. Full Story
King named to Max Preps All-America team
Aubrey King, a freshman at Mumford High School who resides in Milano, was named to the 2011 MaxPreps All-American team.
