Cameron’s former First National Bank getting marker
Historical building ceremony 10 a.m. Thursday
CAMERON—The Texas Historical Commission (THC) has recognized the former First National Bank of Cameron building as a significant part of Texas history by awarding it an Official Texas Historical Marker. The designation honors the building, which is now home of Classic Bank, as an important and educational part of local history. Full Story
Helping each other works
This weekend was a busy time in Rockdale. There were people everywhere and business was good. The one thing I was so impressed with was the way the different businesses promoted each other. The hotels recommended the restaurants, the convenience stores suggested drivers and so on. We will get through the economic crunch and it will be because we are helping each other. Full Story

TACC held candidate forum Monday
Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce held their Meet the Candidate Forum on Monday, May 2 at the TACC building in downtown Thorndale. In spite of the rain and cold weather the event was a big success. Full Story
Rockdale building permits over $100,000 for 2011 calendar year
City building permits totaled totaled $107,946 for the month of April. That brings the total for the 2011 calendar year to $357,756.
Building permits are issued at City Hall and reflect only construction in the city limits
That brings the total for the fiscal year 2011, which began in October 2010 to $745,283.
