Freeman’s ‘Anything Goes’ overall winner at Dewberry BBQ cookoff

CAMERON–Anything goes at barbecue cookoffs and that was literally the case as “Anything Goes” headed up by Leroy Freeman of Rockdale took the overall winner trophy at the 2011 Dewberry Festival Barbecue Cookoff held Friday and Saturday at Ledbetter Park.

The contest was held in conjunction with the Cameron Chamber of Com- merce’s 15th annual Dewberry Festival. Contest chairperson Patsy Gaines released the results as follows:

Brisket— 1. Wellborn Cookers; 2. Lone Star Beer; 3. Anything Goes; 4. Gold Ol’ Boys; 5. Burnt To Perfection; 6. Double S Cooking Team; 7. L& E Cookers; 8. Just’ A Kruse’n; 9. Yard Birds; 10. The Smokin’ Cunado’s.
