Rockdale Tiger Booster Club will host its fourth annual golf tournament on Saturday, May 7 at the Rockdale Country Club. The one day tournament will include a crawfish boil.

Teams will be posted at 8 a.m. with the first tee off at 8:30. A sausage wrap lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Another tee off is set for 1 p.m. and the crawfish boil is set for 6 p.m. There is an $85 per person entry fee (which includes one meal ticket), additional meal tickets available for $20 each.

Players must be 18 years or older. Prize money awarded to the first three places. Hole sponsorships available for $100. Contact the RISD athletic office, 430- 6150 for more information or call Rockdale Country Club, 446- 4013.

Physicals offered at RISD May 12

Athletes are required to have a physical as incoming seventh, ninth and 11th graders. Physicals will be offered to all high school and junior high athletes needing physicals from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12 at the junior high gym for $10 (cash or checks only). Please make checks payable to Dr. Jamee Garner.

The physical packet, which all paperwork must be filled out, is available on the Rockdale ISD website (but must be submitted on green copy paper) and at the RISD Athletic Office.

The medical history form must be completed and turned in by Friday, May 6.

If the packet is not fully completed or is not on green paper it will not be accepted, and in compliance with UIL rules the athlete will not be able to practice or participate in any sport until all forms are completed.

Thorndale banquet set for May 11 at Fire hall

THORNDALE–Thorndale Athletic Booster Club has anounced its annual athletic banquet for Wednesday, May 11, club reporter Marcylee Jones said.

The banquet will begin at 5 p.m. at the Thorndale Firemen’s Hall with a silent auction, followed by dinner and awards at 6. The event will recognize THS coaching staff and student athletes, Jones said.

Tickets can be purchased until May 3 at Rockdale Federal Credit Union-Thorndale, Sassy Up Salon, Thorndale City Hall, Downtown Cafe and the TISD administration office.

TISD summer sports camp dates announced

THORNDALE– Dates have been announced for summer sports camps at Thorndale ISD. Dates and camps are: Girls and boys tennis, June 6-9; volleyball, June 6-9; girls and boys basketball, June 13-16; baseball and softball, June 20-23. Each camp cost $30. First annual alumni golf tournament set in July

The Rockdale Country Club Mens Golf Association is sponsoring the first annual Tiger Golf Team Alumni Tournament.

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 30 at the Rockdale Country Club and all proceeds will go to the RHS golf team.

There will be a team draw party on Friday, July 29 at 7 p.m.

The format is a four-person scramble and the cost is $60 per person and includes cart, green fees and lunch.

Entry deadline is July 22.

It is open to anyone who played on the RHS golf team, which dates back to 1965.

King, Robinson named to Brazos Valley squad

Aubrie King of Mumford and Jaxson Robinson of Milano were named to the 36th annual Bryan- College Station Eagle All- Brazos Valley team.

King was selected for the first team along with players from Bryan, College Station and Zac Brashear of Cameron.

The 6-foot- 4 guard was the only freshman on the team after averaging 22 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists while being named the district most valuable player.

King pumped in 125 three pointers and set a school record with 45 points in a game.

King was also a first team Class A all-state pick and was named to the MaxPreps All- American team.

King is the only player named as a player and to the all-academic team with a 4.23 grade point average.

Robinson was named to the third team after being chosen the MVP of District 27A.

The senior point guard put up 10 points and 6.5 assists a game including a last-second shot that knocked King and Mumford out of the playoffs.

Milano’s John Jentsch was named to the all-academic team. The junior sports a 4.26 GPA and is ranked first in his class.
