Rockdale officials talk ‘Y’ in Round Rock
ROUND ROCK—Sixteen Rockdale residents, and one from Cameron, discussed YMCA issues in a Friday meeting in Round Rock.
The session was coordinated by the Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD).
Primary purpose of the meeting was to explain how the YMCA works with the local medical community to provide health, fitness and rehabilitation programs and services. Full Story
Rockdale volunteer firefighters responded to a house fire at the Lisa Drummond residence, 706 Morrison at 2:40 p.m. Monday. Damages were confined the back of the residence and to an outbuilding. Full Story

County okays plan for redistricting
Milam County Commissioners, meeting Monday in regular session at the courthouse, finalized their countywide redistricting plans, based on the 2010 Census.
Major change will be in the Minerva area where Voting Precincts 103 will be combined with Precincts 207. Voting will be at Milam County Cowboy Church. Full Story
Reprieve! Land owners offer plan to preserve bridge
Area landowners have approached the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) with a plan to save the 99-yearold Worley Bridge over the San Gabriel River from being removed or altered.
Kit Worley, whose family gave the name to the landmark bridge, told The Reporter this week an alternative site for a new bridge has been identified. Full Story
Assisted living wing will close at RMH
Rockdale Hospital District boa rd member s on Mond ay decided to shut down the assiste d living wing at Richards Memorial Hospital on Aug. 1.
“ It was continuing to lose money,” board president Carl Hudson said. “We’ve been talking about this for several months and it finally got to the point where we didn’t have any choice.” Full Story
