SOMERVILLE—Graveside services for Harold H. Loewe, 81, of Rosebud, formerly of Somerville, were held Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Loewe Family Cemetery in Sandtown with Dr. Adrian Coleman officiating.

Mr. Loewe died Wednesday, May 4, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

He was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Sandtown to Herman Herbert and Magdalene (Schoeneman) Loewe.

Mr. Loewe served in the National Guard and spent his working years as a coach in public education. In 1959 until 1962, he acted as principal and football coach in Somerville. In 1961, he took the Somerville Yegua football team to the regional finals.

After his retirement, Mr. Loewe enjoyed fishing and playing golf.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Addie Mae (Kirk) Loewe; and a brother, David Lloyd Loewe.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Sue (Shadden) Loewe; his daughters and sons- in- law, Cindy and Barry Capps of Fairfield, Gaye and Henry Hawkins of Bryan; his son and daughter in-law, Harold “Dusty” and Lisa Loewe of Rockdale; and his grandchildren, Ben Capps, Erin McKinzie, Kirby Flandry, Justin Loewe, Miranda Loewe, Lance Loewe, Hal Hawkins and Diane Montgomery.

Memorials may be made to the charity or church of one’s choice.
