Relay raises $30,000 for cancer fight
The ninth annual Relay for Life raised about $30,000 for cancer research and education overnight Friday at the Cameron Junior- High track.
This year’s event, renamed Relay For Life of Milam County, was the first one hosted by Cameron. Previous events were held in Rockdale. Full Story

Anthropology prof renovating South Milam landmark
MILANO–In rural areas, sometimes landmarks become icons and so is the case with the “old rock house” off Texas 36 about two miles south of Milano. Dr. Donny Hamilton, head of the Anthropology department at Texas A&M University, has taken on a “labor of love” to restore the 120-year-old home site, starting with the locally famous two-story house. Milano Opry to celebrate two years
Milano Opry will celebrate its second anniversary during its monthly show set for Saturday, May 21 at the Milano High School cafetorium. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7. Admission is $7 with children 10 and under free. Full Story
