Schools to learn funding fate
This week is the final week for several public school issues. It is the last week that RHS seniors will take final exams in high school as they prepare for commencement. Graduation is quite an accomplishment for students, and while there is sadness that a great group of students is leaving our district, there is also an enormous sense of pride for their achievements. Richards Memorial awards $5,000 scholarships

Garza, Cecala earn PhDs
SAN MARCOS–Jacob L. Garza graduated with his doctorate of physical therapy on May 14 from Texas State University.
He is the son of John and Donna Garza of Rockdale. His grandparents are Matilde Garza, the late Alfred Garza and Miriam and the late Fred Nolen. Full Story

Llana, Kroeger top Thorndale graduates
THOR NDALE—Margie Sue Llana is the valedictorian and Carl Dean Kroeger the salutatorian of the 55-member Thorndale High School graduating class of 2011.
Counselor Debbie Blazier said the two will deliver addresses during commencement exercises set for 8 p.m. Friday, May 27 at Bulldog Stadium. Senior scholarship night is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26 in the school cafeteria. Full Story

Cruise is great way to forget all your troubles
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for our family with graduations and then a wonderful cruise that husband James and I went on last week.
This was our first cruise but definitely not our last.
