Memorial Day service heartfelt and emotional
Denice Doss

On this Memorial Week we should take notice of so many brave men and women who served our country, fought and died. The Memorial Day service held on Monday at Wolf Park was a great remembrance of those who have gone on before us. The students did a wonderful job and the Boy Scouts were impressive.

I appreciate the American Legion for sponsoring this ceremony, to keep us all in mind of what this country was founded on. To hear the names of the Milam County soldiers who died for our country was heartwarming and emotional.

Memorial Day is always the trigger that starts summer and all the activities that go with summer. I hope you get to rest some and take some time with your family. What a great time of the year.

Congratulations to the Class of 2011. There are such great possibilities out there for you and I wish you the best. And to the parents of the graduates, good luck to you as your children move into another level of life. It is hard to let our children go but it is the way it was meant to be.

To the graduates I say, Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Until next time I leave you with this...To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.
