SHERIFF’S REPORT

Rabid horse triggers warning

Sheriff David Greene has asked Milam County residents to keep a close eye on their livestock after a horse was diagnosed with rabies during the week.

Greene said the horse was in the Davilla area and that only one person was known to have had contact with the animal.

Although the sheriff’s department will document reports of rabies, individual animal owners are responsible for having livestock and pets tested and vaccinated for rabies.
