Junior-high to promote 143 in ceremony on Thursday


Bankston Bankston Speeches by valedictor ian George Dillon Bankston and salutatorian Michael Ross Boyd will highlight promotion exercises for Rockdale Junior-High School’s Class of 2011, set for 10 a.m. Thursday in the junior-high gymnasium, according to Principal April Eschberger.

Bankston posted a 4.2893 grade-point average in his threeyear RJH academic career. He is the son of Kelly and Kandace Bankston.

Boyd’s average was 4.2393. He is the son of David and Dawn Boyd.

Eschberger said averages of more than 4.0 are possible due to “weighted” honors courses. There are 143 eighth- graders being promoted, including 47 honor students.

Certificates will be presented by Eschberger, assisted by Allen Sanders, assistant principal, and Angela White, counselor.

The processional, national anthem, RJH school song and recessional will be presented by the RJH Big Gold Band, under the direction of Lance Walker.


Boyd Boyd Tyler Pruett will open the ceremony and Kasey Crump will lead the pledge to the American and Texas flags.

Chance Buegeler will close the ceremony.
