Presentation of scholarships is usually routine at the annual Awards Night ceremony, held the week before graduation in the RHS Auditorium. It was a different matter when Raymond Lawson stepped to the podium to present a scholarship from Rockdale Masonic Lodge 414. The winner was his granddaughter, salutatorian Kelsey Galbreath. Proud Grandpa got a hug. Granddaughter got a hug and $3,000 for her college career. Total number of scholarships presented was estimated at over $580,000. Galbreath and valedictorian Clayton Merka made many trips to the podium to pick up college cash. Full coverage, including more photos, pages 4A, 8A and 2D.
