Benefit bake sales for FBC, Cooksey family

There are two fund-raisers this weekend for two worthy causes. The first is for the Milano First Baptist Church pre-teen group to help them go to church camp. The bake sale and garage sale are at 8 a.m. Saturday at the corner of Church St. and US 79 in Milano. For more information, contact Sharon Beatty at 503-348-3771.

The other fund-raiser is a bake sale for former Milano teacher Johnnie Cooksey. It is set for 9 a.m. Saturday in front of the CVS Pharmacy in Cameron (Brookshire Brothers shopping center). Mr. Cooksey is recovering from having his leg amputated and the family is working on getting his home handicap accessible. He has been in the hospital off and on for the past two years. Proceeds from the sale will go straight to the family.

The second annual Kristi’s Krusaders “Rally for the Walk... Walk MS 2011” is coming up Saturday, June 25 at Nat’s in Milano. Items are needed for silent and live auctions. A ll proceeds benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The group are selling tickets for a Remington model 770. Tickets are $ 5 each and the winner will be announced June 25. June is a busy month of birthdays for our family. So happy birthday wishes to Keely (June 2), Hayleigh (June 7), Robbie (June 8), Marie (June 12) and Zachary (June 18).

Don’t forget the annual Lagrone Family Reunion is coming up Father’s Day weekend at Norine Lagrone’s home. Food, fun and fellowship is set for June 17-19. Everyone is invited to come out and visit the family.
