Fallen comrades honored in Memorial Day readings
More than 90 years of Milam County’s war dead were honored in a Memorial Day Ceremony.
Relatives and friends answered “here” in memory as 235 names were read at Wolf Park in the annual observance sponsored by Rockdale’s Carlyle American Legion Post 358 on Monday. Full Story

Beginners Fun Day set June 11
On Saturday, June 11 area youngsters ages 5 to 8 are invited to a “Beginners Fun Day Workshop” at the Gause School. This program will be sponsored by the Milam County 4-H, with 4-H members from the various clubs across the county presenting fun and informative workshops for the youngsters. Full Story
Plan switches Milam congressional distrct
A congressional redistricting plan introduced Tuesday in the first day of the Texas Legislature’s special session would place Milam County in a different congressional district.
The plan, if approved, would change the county from District 30, currently represented by John Carter (R-Round Rock) to District 17, currently represented by Bill Flores (R-Bryan). Full Story
