Doss

Funeral services for Irma M. Doss, 98 were held Saturday, May 28, 2011, in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Rev. Jan Campbell officiated.

Mrs. Doss died Thursday, May 26, in Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

She was born Feb. 2, 1913, in the Gay Hill community to Otto Fritz and Erma Gertrude (Stork) Timmerman. She lived in the Gay Hill community until the 1930s.

She married Harr y Henr y Doss in August 1928 in Rockdale.

Mrs.Dosswasawifeand homemaker. She worked as a sales clerk and bookkeeper at Strickers Variety Store during the late 1930s and early 1940s. She also worked as a floral designer for Rockdale Flower Shop for 40 years, before retiring.

Mrs. Doss was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid at Peace Lutheran.

She was a member of Rockdale VFW Auxiliary.

Mrs. Doss was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry H. Doss, Sept. 17, 1991; three sisters, Mattie Timmerman Dockall, Bessie Doss Wenzel and Flora Mae Timmerman Schroeder; and two brothers, Emmitt Doss and Delbert Timmerman.

Survivors are a son, Otto A. “Tutor” Doss and wife Emogene of Rockdale; a grandson, Jamie Doss and wife Tracy of Rockdale; two great-granddaughters, Christina Doss Jimenez and husband Vincent of Rockdale, Natalie Doss Van Delden and husband Jeff of Austin; five great-great-granddaughters, Hanna, Haven and Halle Jimenez, all of Rockdale, Ava Bush and Lyla Van Delden, both of Austin; and a sister, Margie Doss Clark of Rockdale; also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Bert Dockall, Vincent Jimenez, Jeff Van Delden, Ronnie Brannon, Ken Clark and James Powell.
