THE CASE FOR GREATNESS
FOOTBALL—Record: 8-4. District: 2nd in 12A. Playoffs: lost to Falls City in area, but not before recording only second playoff victory in school history over High Island in bi-district. VOLLEYBALL—Record: 33-11. District: 2nd in 25A. Playoffs: lost to state power Round Top-Carmine in regional quarterfinals in the ladies 10th straight playoff journey. CROSS COUNTRY— Freshman Justin Grimes made it to regionals. BOYS BASKE TBALL— Record : 27- 4. Ranked: 5th. District: Unbeaten 27A champions. Playoffs: Lost to Final Four team Evadale in regional quarterfinals. It’s the furtherest a Milano team had gone since 1997. Defeated neighbor Mumford in area round on last second shot by Jaxson Robinson. GIRLS BASKETBALL— Record: 12-16. District: Co-champions with Thrall in 27A. Playoffs: In first playoff appearance since 2000 under first-year coach Virginia Beard, the Eagles were clipped by Shiner in bidistrict. POWERLIFTING—Jamie Czajkowski earned a trip to the state meet. SOFTBALL—Record: 7-15-1. District: 3rd in 27A. Playoffs: lost to Ganado in bi-district in just fifth trip to post season. BASEBALL— Record: 15-9. District: 2nd in 26A. Playoffs: Set a new standard by reaching regional quarterfinals. It was just the third playoff appearance for the Eagles (1998, 2000) and first in 11 years. GOLF—Fourth place finish by Eagles in district was best ever by a team. TRACK—Sent a boy representaive (actually two) to the state track meet for the first time since 2004. Thomas Sanders was fifth in the long jump and Brandon Garza eighth in the pole vault. TENNIS—Jaxson Robinson and Wynton Thomason returned to the regional tournament for the third straight year, but this time, they left with a little something for the effort—their first medal—a bronze for finishing third. Trevor Gage reached the regional tournament in boys singles.
