RJH promotes 143 eighth-graders

There are 143 new freshmen at Rockdale High School after a standing room only crowd witnessed eighth-grade promotion exercises in the Rockdale Junior-High School gym Thursday. Speeches by (L-R) valedictorian Dillon Bankston and salutatorian Michael Boyd were featured. Promotion certificates were presented by Principal April Eschberger, assisted by Allen Sanders, assistant principal, and Angela White, counselor. The processional, national anthem, RJH school song and recessional were presented by the RJH Big Gold Band, under the direction of Lance Walker. Tyler Pruett opened the ceremony and Kasey Crump led the pledge to the American and Texas flags. Chance Buegeler closed the ceremony.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
