Deadline for county camp extended until Friday

The deadline to sign up for County Camp has been extended to June 10. County 4-H camp will be at the Methodist Conference Center in Palestine. Camp dates are July 8-10.

The camp is designed for 4-Hers from 8 to 13, but it is open to 4-Hers from 8 to 18 years of age. Teen 4-Hers will be teaching the sessions with agent and volunteer assistance. The cost is $110 for 4-Hers and $75 for adults. Applications are available at the Extension Office. You will have lots of fun at camp.

CONSUMER, CLOTHING WORKSHOP–Learn about the Consumer and Clothing projects during a workshop on June 29 at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall in Cameron. The workshop will start at 9:30 a.m. and end about 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided. The workshop is open to all 4-Hers and leaders. Just call the Extension Office to sign-up for the free workshop, 254-697-7045.

The Consumer part of the workshop will provide training on the Consumer Decision Making Contest. The training will help 4-Hers gain buying skills as well as prepare them for the upcoming contests as well as provide information for the leaders to assist with the program.

The Clothing and Textiles project also involves buying skills. You can buy clothing and textiles products or construction garments. During the workshop, 4-Hers will learn about the buying and construction options in the project and go home with a cover for a dream pillow 4- Hers will make a case for an herb dream pillow. The activity will provide an opportunity for 4-Hers to practice simple construction techniques.

This is a workshop for 4- Hers with and without project experience in Consumer and Clothing. Remember to call the Extension Office to sign-up so supplies and lunch can be arranged.

MAJOR SHOW TAG-IN–If you ordered major show tags for steer, lamb, goat or swine, the tag-in date is Monday, June 28 at Arledge Feed Lot, Hwy 79 west of Rockdale. Major steer tag-in will start at 7 a.m. followed by lamb, goat and swine tag-in. If you have questions, contact Milam County Extension Office at 254-697-7045.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
