Plans announced for July 4 parade, meal

Cit y of Mi lano offic ials have a n nou nced pla ns for the to wn’s annual July 4th Parade . The pa rade w il l begin at 10: 30 a. m. start ing ne ar the old Charli eMar tinCit yPark and ending at the Mila no Civic Cen ter/ F i re St at ion. P ick up entry forms and line up for the pa rade will be gin at 9: 30.

Theme for this year’s parade is “The American Spirit”. Pla ques will be awarded in the following divisions: best overa ll; bi cycles andsma llba tter yopera te d; floats; vinta ge veh icle s, tra ctors, et c. ; other mot or ized (go cart s, 4- wheele rs, law n mo wer s, etc .); horses, bugg ies and wagons.

En tries wil l re co g ni ze d as the par ade pas sesthroug hdown- tow n. Plaques will be give n to winners at civic cente r. A free hot dog lunch with all the trim mings will beserved im me diat ely fol lo w in g parad e inside the civic center.

The Ba iley Bank Building gro up is also hold ingafund - rais er on a vi nt age 19 40s f ull size qui lt . It is hand made wit h a feed sack backing. Donations are $1 eac h or six for $5. Th e quiltdraw ingwillbe held at noon Ju ly 4 at the Mi lano Civic Ce nte r, after the para de. Need not be pr esent to win.

Thankyou to everyone that came out to show their suppor t for Johnnie Cook sey and famil y at the bene fit ba ke sale on Saturd ay in Cameron. The mone y ra ised will be used to make the Cooksey home wheelchair acce s- sible for Mr. Cooksey.

Don’ t for ge t to mark you r calenda rs for the second annu al Kristi’s Krusaders “Rally for the Walk... Walk MS 201 1” on Satu r- day, June 25 at Nat ’s in Milano. All proce eds benefit the National Mu lt iple Sc lerosis Soc iety.

The group is selling tickets for a Rem ing ton model 770. Tic kets ar e $5 eac h and the winner will be announced June 25. Need not be pre sent to win. A motorcycle ride , li ve a nd si lent au ct ions , barb ecuemealand live enter - ta inment are just some of th e event s planned at the day- long fun d- rais er. The ride is set to start about 10 a.m. and barbecue will be ready about noon.

Don’t forget the annual Lagrone Fa mily Reun ion is coming up Father’s Day we ekend at Norine Lagrone’s home. Food , fun and fellow sh ip is set for June 17- 19.
