Milam County Commissioners banned fireworks with fins and sticks on Monday in advance of the July Fourth holiday but the ban won’t affect the free fireworks show planned for Friday, July 1, at Fair Park. Full Story

Schnerr named third team All-State by coaches
Tiger slugger honored after outstanding senior year
His days as a Rockdale athlete may be over, but Dillan Schnerr continues to pile up the awards.
Schnerr was named third team at first base in Class 3A by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Wednesday.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound first baseman hit .442 at the plate, while smacking four home runs and driving in 27 runs. Full Story

Rebates still in decline here
County sales tax allocations also down compared to 2010
AUSTIN—Texas Comptroller Susan Combs announced last week the state’s sales revenue in May was $1.95 billion, up 9.9 percent compared to May 2010.
However, the City of Rockdale, along with Milam County are down in rebate money compared to the amounts received in June 2010. Full Story
