Free Rockdale show granted exemption
Milam County Commissioners banned fireworks with fins and sticks on Monday in advance of the July Fourth holiday but the ban won’t affect the free fireworks show planned for Friday, July 1, at Fair Park. Full Story
Former Gause resident dies in crash
A 21-year-old College Station resident, a native of Gause and a former student in the Milano ISD, died just before dawn Sunday in a two-vehicle crash on US 79 a mile east of Milano.
Trooper David Yarbrough said Kristin Leigh Coats was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Sam Berry of Cameron shortly after the 5:45 a.m. collision. Full Story

Surplus food giveaway set for Thursday
The monthly visit of the Capitol Area Food Bank’s mobile pantry to Rockdale is set for 9 a.m. Thursday in the KC Hall parking lot.
Visits have been drawing about 200 participants to receive free surplus food from the Austinbased organization. Full Story
