Reporter/Bill Martin Graduated senior Dillan Schnerr joins an elite group of Tigers by being named to the All-State baseball team. Reporter/Bill Martin His days as a Rockdale athlete may be over, but Dillan Schnerr continues to pile up the awards.

Schnerr was named third team at first base in Class 3A by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Wednesday.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound first baseman hit .442 at the plate, while smacking four home runs and driving in 27 runs.

“Dillan had another great season and I’ve enjoyed watching him get better and better every year,” said Rockdale Coach Jarad Richards. “He brought so much to our team this year in his leadership at practices as well as games.

“Being awarded All- State is definitely a well deserved honor for Dillan. He was one of the toughest offensive outs in our district and many district opponents can agree with that. I have seen opposing teams intentionally walk him even when there were men at first and second base already.”

A disciplined hitter, Schnerr struck out just eight times this season.

Schnerr leaves Rockdale as one of its top run producers, ending his career with 83 runs batted in, third behind Nic Hammett (94) and Vincent Jiminez (87).
