MANHUNT IN MILAM
A man matching the description of 29-year-old Trent Archie, who escaped from the Walker County (Huntsville) Jail Tuesday, ran from Milam authorities about 10 p.m. Wednesday. Thursday morning, dogs and a horseback team from the Department of Corrections were summoned and the DPS sent a helicopter.
Archie was convicted of murder in 2004. An appeals court reversed that decision five years later but June 8 the state Court of Criminal Appeals re-instated the conviction. Archie remained free on bond, was sent to jail on a drug possession charge but escaped after overpowering a guard.
A Thursday morning report by a San Antonio television station that Archie had been recaptured in Marlin that morning was unfounded, accoring to the Milam County Sheriff's Department.
