Rain, rain, please stay, come on dow n again today!

Thank you to all of you that have been doing their Rain Dances faithfully. I was beginning to think that somebody, somewhere was not doing their part.

Just to show you how much community spirit I have, I have been dancing my rain dance to my Zumba DVD. I figure God saw me and start laughing so hard that tears came out of His eyes and it actually rained.

Regardless, many thanks to the Big Man upstairs for the much needed rain!

If you are going to a July 4th party and want to take something festive, I am including a recipe that I brought to a party once and everyone really liked it. In fact, at first my friends were going on so much about how much they liked it that I thought they were teasing me. Turns out they really liked it.

And best of all, it was super easy to make, which is my favorite kind of recipe.

Red, White and  Blue Dessert

2 pints strawberries 1 pint blueberries Sugar (if needed) refrigerated sugar cookie dough 1 can of vanilla cake frosting Directions:

Preheat oven to whatever it says on the cookie dough package.

(Note: if you are making homemade Sugar Cookie dough then you are a magic fairy or wonder woman and you already know what degree to turn your oven to.)

Wash and drain berries and slice the strawaberries. Right now the berries should be sweet enough on their own, but if not then add sugar to your liking.

Roll out cookie dough into a rectangle on a cookie sheet.

Bake cookie rectangle according to the directions on the cookie dough package; cool. Top with the vanilla icing. Then add the strawberries and blueberries.

Now what I did was put the blue berries in the top left hand corner where the stars go on a real flag. Then I lined up the strawberry slices to make a red line going across. Then I skipped a line so it would be white (icing), get it?

Red and white stripes, like a flag.

So I made a yummy, and best of all, fast and easy patriotic dessert.

Another LaGrone Reunion has come and gone and as usual, there was an abundance of really great food and fun. Cousin Grace Fields is working on getting a Lagrone cookbook made up and I’ll try to snatch some recipes and share them. There was every kind of side dish and dessert you can think of, besides an abundance of wonderful BBQ, family and fun.
