Feathers

Funeral services for Geneva Feathers, 95, of Lexington were held Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in New Hope Baptist Church in Rockdale with Pastor Charles Embra officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Feathers died Wednesday, June 15, in Burleson- St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell.

She was born Aug. 6, 1915, in Burleson County to LeRoy and Ulisious (Moultry) Freeman.

Mrs. Feathers was raised in Burleson County. When she was a young adult, she moved to California where she attended business college.

Mrs. Feathers worked in child care.

She married Albert Feathers while in California.

Mrs. Feathers had been a Lexington resident since the late 1980s.

She was a member of Lee County Extension Agency.

Mrs. Feathers enjoyed church, music, friends, celebrating her birthday with a big party, helping those in need, traveling, growing her vegetables, flowers and sewing.

Mrs. Feathers was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers and sisters.

Survivors are a sister-in-law, Maggie B. Freeman of Caldwell; five nephews, Nathanial Freeman Jr. and wife Ann of Austin, Leroy and Doris Freeman of Rockdale, Raymond Freeman of Dallas, Redick and Rachael Freeman of Greenville, Larry Freeman; and two nieces, Brenda and James Heslip of Bryan, Peggy Zaongo of Austin; also, numerous greatnieces and nephews and friends.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
