We had a ribbon cutting at Manor Oaks on Friday for their Transition Unit wing. Manor Oaks has done some wonderful renovations and made a very pleasing atmosphere for their residents. Go out and visit Cyndia Ingram at Manor Oaks and she’ll give you a guided tour of the facility.
The 100 degree days of summer are marching on and you know you’re in Texas when high 90’s is a reprieve. Of course the animals and birds are looking for some relief just like us humans and the bird baths are emptied as fast as I can fill them in my yard. I am enjoying the barn swallows on my porches and watching the babies perched right on the edge of the nest, knowing that they are ready to fly on their own.
Each morning when I leave I notice they are looking out in anticipation of leaving the nest and I truly expect them to be gone by the afternoon when I come home. So far they are still there but I know it is a matter of days and they will have flown the nest. Another “crop” of babies gone into the world. As messy as the barn swallows are they are that enjoyable to watch. Kind of like our human kids—messy but delightful.
As we deal with the summer heat we can look forward to the cooler months to come and then I remember back when we were freezing in the 20 degree temperatures, wishing for the warmer weather. What funny creatures we are. But speaking of cooler temperatures we are making plans for our Central Texas Hunting and Outdoor Expo in September.
It should be a great event and new plans are being made every day. The committee is working hard to make it a premier event We’ll be talking more about this in the days to come.
Until next time I leave you with this.....Work as if it was your first day. Forgive as soon as possible. Love without boundaries. Laugh without control and never stop smiling.
