SAN ANTONIO–Amy Justine Mueller graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology on May 5 from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

The daughter of Jim Mueller and Sandra Mueller of The Woodlands, she attended Oak Ridge High School in Spring.

Mueller is currently waiting to get her masters in cultural anthropology with a main focus on the Pacific Islands with interests in political ecolog y and environmental change.

She also has a brother, Austin, and is the granddaughter of Allen and Dolores Wolf of Giddings.

Area residents on SHSU Dean’s List for spring

HUNTSVILLE–Several area students have been named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2011 semester at Sam Houston State University. The Dean’s List consists of all full-time undergraduate students having grade point averages of 3.5 and above.

Local residents on the list included:

Caldwell– Chelsea Munson, Kacee Mynar, Abby Williams.

Cameron–Brandon Kimbrel, Brenda Pena.

Rockdale–Karen Brockenbush, Joe Carter, Jaime David, Nicholas Morehead, Ashley Pruett.

Milano’s Gage on SUU spring Dean’s List

CEDAR CITY, UTAH–Joseph Tanner Gage of Milano was named to the Dean’s List at Southern Utah University for the spring 2011 semester.

The junior communications major earned a 3.6 grade point average for the semester and has a cumulative GPA of 3.4717.

A total of 974 students comprise the list, representing the top 12 percent of SUU’s student body this past semester. To be included on the SUU Dean’s List, a student must carry an academic load of at least 15 credits, and earn a grade point average of at least a 3.6.

Milano native receives HPU theatre honor

BROWNWOOD–Marci (Baron) Journey earned a pretigious award from Howard Payne University during the spring 2011 semester.

Journey, a 2007 graduate of Milano High School, received the award for Outstanding Achievement in Theatre at Howard Payne University’s Academic Awards Convocation in April. The award was presented by the School of Music and Fine Arts.
