BBQ, auction benefit for Glen Goetz Jr. set for July 10

THORNDALE—A BBQ dinner and live auction benefit has been set for July 10, 2011 for Glenn Goetz Jr. of Lexington.

Goetz, a 1983 graduate of Thorndale High School, has stage 4 brain cancer. “This benefit will help him and his family with medical and traveling expenses in this time of need,” said Richard Schneider, organizer.

Goetz has been self-employed all his life and does not have medical insurance.

The benefit will be held at the Thorndale Fireman’s Hall in Thorndale. BBQ plates will be sold, starting at 11 a.m. and will be served until sold out.

Dine-in or to go plates will be available and they will also deliver plates to Luminant Power Plant and Luminant mines in Elgin.

The live auction will start at 12:30 p.m. and they are accepting donations.

There are also chance tickets available for a Henry Lever Action 22 Mag and a Cricket 22 Rifle, donated by the Daniel Garrison family and the Ryan’s Hope Benefit.

To donate auction items, purchase raffle tickets or to help in any way, contact Schneider at 512-898-2692 or 512-760-8689 or Glenn Schneider at 512-898-5208 or 512-760-6792.
