Youngblood

Graveside services for Stella Ann Turner Youngblood, 75, of Rockdale were held Saturday, June 25, 2011, in Salty Cemetery near Thorndale with Pastor Greg Spears officiating.

Ms. Youngblood died Wednesday, June 22, in the Cameron Nursing Home in Cameron.

She was born Feb. 27, 1936, in Thorndale to S.D. and Carmel (Bryant) Turner. She attended Thorndale High School.

Ms. Youngblood had lived the past 43 years in Rockdale and was formerly of Brookshire.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Minerva.

Ms. Youngblood enjoyed reading and collecting books.

She was a homemaker and owner and operator of C&Y Grocery in the Praesel Addition in Rockdale.

Ms. Youngblood was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Sammy Donald Turner, and a special friend, Thomas Polk.

Survivors are three daughters, Mar y Sorrells and husband Larr y of Br yan, K athy Thornton and husband Steve, Donna Sue Currie and husband Dale, all of Rockdale; a brother; Allen “Muff” Turner and Barbara McWhirter of Thorndale; a sister-in-law, Bette Lee Graham Youngblood and husband Ike; five grandchildren, Donny Fleming and wife Whitney, Bryan and Clay Thornton, Kelli Currie and Josh Wedemeier, Daniel Currie; a special grandson, Brad Skrhak; four great-grandchildren, Skyler, Turner and Cooper Fleming, Kaleb Wedemeier; and a special cousin, Doris Turner.

Pallbearers were Donny Fleming, Bryan Thornton, Clay Thornton, Daniel Currie, Kelly Currie and Brad Skrhak.

Honorary pallbearer was Jimmy Turner.
