Dawg job draws 120 applicants
Could fill job by Friday says Supt. Callahan
THORNDALE—Thorndale ISD super intendent Casey Callahan said he has received 120 applicants for the recently vacated athletic director/head coach positions.
Asked if the large number of applications surprised him, Callahan said yes and no.

It’s time to start getting ready for the 2011 season
Equipment to be issued Aug. 1 at field house
While this is only late June, there are a couple of important dates that potential Tiger football players need to keep in mind.
Equipment will be issued at the field house on Monday, Aug. 1, beginning at 7 a.m. sharp.
That will be followed by the first day of practice which is set to begin at 8 a.m. and continue until noon. Full Story
Le’Raven can’t escape the heat in Lubbock
Shortly after grabbing up his diploma at graduation three weeks ago, Le’Raven Clark made a B-line to Lubbock to get his college life underway.
Clark’s life is about to get better in a lot of ways. He’s going to have about 100 new brothers he can count on and about a dozen new fathers that he can go to for advice. Full Story
Cook was part of first state tournament team
Biffy Cook, 63, who died June 21, was an intregal part of Rockdale’s very first state basketball tournament team in 1966.
The 6-foot-2 junior was a starter on the most unlikely state tournament team, which featured just one senior and had two sophomores in the starting lineup. Full Story
32nd Rockdale Open set for July 27-31
The 32nd edition of the Rockdale Tennis Open is scheduled for July 27-31 at the Veterans Memorial Park tennis courts.
The youth portion of the tournament will be held July 27-28 and features seven separate categories for players aged 10 thru 18, including singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Full Story
