Is it too hot for comfort?

Scientific hypotheses state that the planet is expect to warm between 5 and 7 degrees (F) in the next 50 years. While a matter of a few degrees may not seem like a monumental thing, this change can actually have widespread effects.

Warmer temperatures may cause ice caps to melt completely. The resulting water runoff will then make sea levels rise. This water can f lood major coastal cities and could even reach inland areas.

Mass deserts may form all over the world.

Sea life may be unable to survive and the oceans could become a marine wasteland.

Historically, a rise in temperature has been associated with mass extinction. The same doomsday scenario could happen again with animals (including humans) unable to cope with the temperature fluctuation.
