Chamber president will leave office July 31st


Doss Doss Denice Doss, who has headed up the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce for the past 11 years, announced Friday she is leaving her post on July 31.

“I have some other opportunities I want to pursue,” she told The Reporter.

Doss became Chamber presid ent May 1, 2000, replacing Ellen Means. Prior to that she was director of the Rockdale ISD’s community education program for eight years.

Doss also directed the Rockdale Senior Citizens Center and had previously been employed at the MARC Center.

“I’ve had 11 wonderful years at the Chamber,” she said. “During that time I’ve made some lifelong friends.”

The Chamber board of directors will now appoint a successor to Doss.

“I’ll continue to be here at the Chamber Rock House Headquarters through July 31,” she said.

Doss’s tenure spanned the final years of the smelter at Alcoa’s Rockdale Operations, including its shutdown.

“Working at the Chamber has been one of the highlights of my life,” she said.
