‘At wit’s end’ over rusty Rockdale water problem

Dear editor,

I read with interest the letter from Mike Brannam about the water problems in Rockdale (Reporter, June 30).

My water heater rusted out and f looded several rooms of the house, a direct result of the nasty water.

Both toilets had to be replaced because nothing I did removed the stains.

The filter on my kitchen faucet has to be changed every month, not “every three months” as suggested on the box.

Same goes for the filters on the showers.

Oh, and let us not forget the laundry. Currently in the cabinet above my washing machine, I have White Brite, Rit Rust Remover, Rit Whitener & Brightener and RIT White-Wash.

I f lush both toilets and run water in the kitchen sink, checking the “status” of the water before starting the washer.

Unfortunately, all the precautions will not prevent the rinse water from being rusty sometimes.

What is a person to do? I am at my wit’s end.
