Pleasant Hill Cemetery homecoming Sunday

The Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association will gather for its annual homecoming at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 10 at the cemetery. Those in attendance are asked to bring a covered dish for the luncheon.

Democratic Women’s meeting here Saturday

Next meeting of the local chapter of Texas Democratic Women will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9 at the United Steel Workers of America Union Hall in Rockdale.

Burleson Opry ahead Saturday in Chriesman

CHRIESMAN—The Burleson County Opry, held each second Saturday, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the civic center in Chriesman, located on FM 1363 between Milano and Caldwell.

Admission is free and the house band is composed of Rodney Brossette, vocals and guitar; Jimmie Maze, guitar; Don Ling, dobro; Royce Barber, fiddle; and Jimmy Boedeker, vocals and master of ceremonies.

“Come out and enjoy music, fun and food from 7 to 9 p.m.,” said Barber, spokesman. Singer and songwriter Roy Sanders will be featured Saturday, he said.

CVFD auxiliary sets Spaghetti Dinner Sale

The Cameron Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary is holding a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Sunday, July 17, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the Cameron fire station.

“ Plates are $ 7.50 and w ill include spaghetti and salad, with your choice of Italian or Ranch dressing,” according to Rebekka Pratt, auxiliary member. No preorder necessary. Plates are to-go only.

Recipes sought for new RMH Auxiliary cookbook

Members of Richards Memorial Hospital Auxiliary are compiling a Rockdale Community Cookbook for Christmas 2011 and need assistance from the public.

“Please submit your favorite recipes and any stories that go along with them (ie. how they were named or a family story/ memory that accompanies the recipe). Please include your name or the name of the person who submitted the recipe,” said Eric Weinrich, spokesman.

Deadline for submission is July 31, Weinrich said.
