Former Bulldog star Brandon Irwin was selected to represent the United States on a NCAA Division III all-star team.

The 6-foot-3 guard traveled nine days through Italy and the Czech Republic.

“I was really proud to wear USA across my chest,” Irwin said. “Everywhere we went we were treated like rock stars, especially in the Czech Republic.”

As hard as it is to believe, the 2007 Class A player of the year is entering his senior year at Howard Payne where he has been selected three times as a distinguished scholar athlete.

He was selected to the second team All South Region of the American Southwest Conference last season, where he was second in scoring with a 19.2 average and led the ASC in three-point shooting at 42.7 percent.

He has twice been named the ASC player of the week and was also named to the D3hoops.com national team of the week.

Irwin is majoring in business with an emphasis in marketing. He plans to play basketball professionally in Europe before he returns to the U.S. to work.
