Red sails in the sunset

Or maybe “red umbrellas at noontime” would be more appropriate. Whichever you choose, there’s a new look this summer at the Rockdale Municipal Swimming Pool in Veterans Park. The Municipal Development District approved the purchase of shade umbrellas for the pool’s concrete picnic tables and lifeguard stands, along with a cover for the baby pool. Approximate purchase price was $1,800. Wanda White, pool manager, said the pool has now begun “adult nights” from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for those who choose not to swim during regular hours when clientele is mostly youngsters. Regular hours are 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Price is $3. Children age 7 or under are not admitted unless accompanied by parent, guardian or someone over age 21.
