Brown Santa tourney a success

Over $5,000 raised for Christmas program

CAMERON—Milam County Sheriff David Greene hosted his first annual Milam County Brown Santa Golf Tournament this past Saturday and over $5,000 was raised.

“The response from businesses and the people in Milam County was better than I had imagined, it couldn’t have been any better,” said Greene

More than 90 people showed up to actually participate in the 18-hole golf tournament.

There were nine teams for the morning tee time and 13 teams for the afternoon. The last team finished at about 6 p.m.

First place trophy went to: Trey Young, Dillon Orsag, Josh Walker and Phillip Dohnalik.

Second place plaque went to: Cliff Cryer, Bo Cryer, Ben White and Jerald Brunson.

Third place plaque went to: Steven Caffey, Frank Rubio, Chris Mercer and Dwayne David

Deputy John Mendoza, administrative assistant Wynema Adams and Captain Katrina Douglas all worked numerous hours in preparation for the event and reported that over $5,000 was raised for the Milam County Sheriff’s Office Brown Santa Program.

“I am very thankful to all the businesses and people who helped with the program and who came out to play,” Greene said.
