New chamber president is settling in

By DEEDRA JACOB
Chamber president

I would first like to introduce myself to all of you. Many of you already know me but for those of you who don’t here is a little bit of history for you. I came to this great community in 1988 as a freshman in high school. I graduated from Rockdale High School in 1992 and went on to receive a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting and a Masters in Business Adminstration from the University of Mary Hardin- Baylor in Belton. I have lived in Rockdale ever since and have grown to love this community fondly.

I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with all the businesses in Rockdale in promoting Rockdale and all of its assets.

The Chamber has always been involved in so many different causes to make Rockdale a better place to live and I fully intend to continue that tradition.

I am also extremely passionate about bringing in new and successful businesses into Rockdale to stimulate and maintain a healthy economy for us and generations to come.

There are several exciting events coming up in Rockdale so please mark your calendars.

The VFW has scheduled their school supply drive for Aug. 16 and Meadowbrook Baptist Church is still taking shoe and monetary donations for their Back to School Shoe Drive. Please call the Chamber at 446-2030 or the church at 446-3367 for information.

I look forward to seeing each and every one of you at these events. I welcome any of you to stop by and visit with me at the Chamber office or feel free to email or call me anytime. I look forward to many great years ahead.
