Alumni tourney raises $1,100 for RHS golf program

Twenty-six players helped raise $1,100 for the Rockdale High School golf program during Saturday’s first annual alumni golf tournament held at the Rockdale County Club. The event was sponsored by the club’s Mens Golf Association.

Organizer Allan Jones said hopes are to make it even more exciting and bigger and better next year.

The four-man scramble saw first place honors going to the team of Jerry Haupt, Jason Henderson, Eddie Boyd and Ronnie Leggett. Second place was Allan Jones, John Shoemake, Wade Smith, Willie Boyd and John Hogan.

Both teams shot a 62, but the tourney title was won on the sixth hole of a sudden death playoff.

Third place team, which shot a 63, was comprised of Dino David, Brian Jones, Jeff Miller and Brady Nelson.
