DAD-DAUGHTHER TEAM UP FOR TITLE—Lexington’s Jessica Parish joined other college freshmen from Houston and Elgin to make the “Elgin Express” and took the title at the IFA 18 and under National Tournament held July 23-27 in Beaumont. The tournament comprised of 34 teams primarily from Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and California. Parish was big at the plate, with her team down, she smashed a double to right field to score two runs in the semifinals to give her team a shot in the title game. She also had a three-run homer in the 12-2 championship game over Running Rebels Gold from California. Parish’s father Richard was also a coach for the Express team. If you want to purchase your sports poster for last year, athletes have until Friday, Aug. 5.

Cost is $25 to the Rockdale Tiger Booster Club. Posters are available from 8 a.m. to noon at the RISD athletic office.

Advance reserve seat tickets now available

Advance reserve seat football tickets for previous season ticket holders will be sold at the RISD Athletic Office (in the weight room by the football field) from 8 a. m. to noon Aug. 2- 4 and Aug. 9-11.

Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 23, anyone else wanting to purchase reserve seat season tickets may do so in the Athletic Office from 8 a.m. to noon.

Cost of season tickets will be $30 for five home games.

Junior high football, volleyball schedule set

Rockdale Junior High football and volleyball players can begin picking up their equipment on Friday, Aug. 12 with practices to begin on Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Football equipment will be issued on Friday, Aug. 12 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. for eighth graders, while the seventh graders can receive their equipment from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Junior high players may purchase their own football cleats, but they must be black.

Practices begin Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 7 to 8:50 a.m. for seventh graders and at 2:51 to 4:40 p.m. for eighth graders.

Volleyball equipment will also be handed out on Friday, Aug. 12 for the eighth graders from 8 to 9 a.m. and the seventh graders from 9 to 10 a.m.

Practices begin Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Seventh graders will practice from 6:45 to 8:50 a.m. and eighth graders from 3:40 to 5 p.m.

All athletes must have physicals and other paper work turned in and on file to participate and get their equipment.

Wright, Rhoades play in all-star football game

ARLINGTON–Former Rockdale Tiger standout Tyler Wright and just graduated Cameron Yoe quarterback both participated in the 77th annual Texas High School Coahes Association All-Star football game held July 26 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

Wright, who just graduated from Granbur y High School, suited up for the North team, making three receptions for 35 yards, including an 18-yard touchdow n. He is currently preparing to play college ball at Tarleton State in Stephenville.

Rhoades, who led the Cam- eron Yoemen to the 2010 state championship in Class A Division I, played quarterback for the South team.

Dur ing t he a ll- star game, Rhoades saw time at quarterback complet ing eight of 15 passes for 75 yards.

The North beat the South 38-14.

Registration for Gause soccer starts Aug. 18

GAUSE—Registration for Gause soccer for boys and girls ages 4 thru 13 as of Sept. 1st begins August 18 at Gause school cafeteria from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Other dates include:

• August 25— 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

• August 29—6 p.m.-8p.m.

• Sept. 1—6 p.m.-8 p.m.

The cost is $40 per child (this includes jersey and socks).

It’s open to all students in Gause, Milano, Mumford, Hearne, Rockdale and Calvert school districts.

Three games will be played in Gause and the other three will be in Cameron.

First game will be on Sept. 24 with the last game on Oct. 29.

All games will be on Saturday mornings.
