Thorndale Chamber looking for input, design of new logo

NEW DIGS—Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Saturday for Thorndale’s newly relocated Thorndale Meat Market, located on US 79. On hand to help celebrate this occasion were family and friends and many, many customers. The store features fresh meat at its meat case including pork, beef and sausage. They also have fresh deli meats for all your cold cut needs. They have more than doubled their floor space. Helping cut the ribbon are Darlene Tucker, Louis Alvarez, Audrey Gambrell, Trey Felton, Jason Ramirez, John Ramirez (with scissors), Thomas Ramirez, Marvin Rodenbeck, Millie Rodenbeck and Marcia Felton.

Photo courtesy of Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) met in their delayed meeting for July on Aug. 2 at the Downtown Cafe in Thorndale. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented. The treasurer’s report was not available due to the illness of the treasurer. However, the TACC would like to thank the Town and Country Club for their generous donation toward expenses at the Thorndale Revue held last month.

Reporter/Marie Bakken Committee reports were heard from the Business Development Committee which included an update by Brian Morton on the grand opening of the Thorndale Meat Market that was held Saturday, Aug. 6. The TACC also held a ribbon cutting at the event.

In addition, Morton announced that Thorndale will be site of a portion of a new movie, “Abel’s Field,” which will begin filming in the near future. A casting call will be held at a later date for locals to participate in this new film. Watch for more information on this exciting event.

TACC is also requesting input from Thorndale citizens in designing a new Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce logo which will be used on signs to be given to members for 2012 chamber membership. Prizes for the winner of the design used are being gathered and more information will be available soon on how to participate in this event.

All citizens of Thorndale are encouraged to put on your thinking cap and begin work on your design to submit.

In old business, roof issues and air conditioning updates were discussed. Also, Zumba classes are being held at the TACC building on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week with Audrey Gamble, 512-269-6404, as the instructor. Put on your exercise outfit and come join the newest way to stay healthy with this new fun way to exercise.

Under new business, building rental issues were discussed with revisions to the rental rules being updated. In addition, the TACC will be a sponsor of the Central Texas Hunting and Outdoor Expo being held at Apache Pass on September 23-24. Watch for more information on this upcoming event.

The next TACC meeting is st for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 at the Downtown Cafe.
