CHAMBER NEWS

Start of school means busy time for area
Deedra Jacob

Hello citizens! What an exciting time for Rockdale. So many things are happening and as we all know we are headed straight for the busy months of fall. School starts on Aug. 22 and our dedicated and faithful teachers will be returning to class this week to prepare for their school year.

The Chamber handed out around 30 new teacher packets and welcomed them to Rockdale. We are thrilled to have all of our new teachers and returning teachers and extend a welcome hand to them all. Please show them our appreciation and help the Chamber in welcoming them to Rockdale.

As a side note, on Aug. 18, the Rockdale varsity Tigers have a scrimmage against Robinson at 7 p.m. here at Tiger Field.

OUTDOOR EXPO—Sept. 23-24 will be the Central Texas Hunting and Outdoor Expo. We currently have around 20 vendors coming into Rockdale for this event and we anticipate a fun weekend full of activities and events for all ages. Ticket prices for this expo are only $5 for children and $10 for adults, which will get you in to all events on Friday and Saturday. If you are interested in vendor space, please call the Chamber at 446-2030.

We would like to thank our sponsors: Miller-Starnes Chevrolet Buick, Rockdale Country Ford, Coufal-Prater Equipment, and Williamson County Equipment Company for their support.

OTHER EVENTS—The 6th annual Kay Fun Run will be Saturday, Oct. 1. Please plan on supporting that event either as a sponsor, a volunteer, or a contestant. Applications can be picked up at the Chamber for that event.

The VFW has scheduled a chili cook-off and bike run with the proceeds going to MAP (The Military Assistance Program).

The Rockdale Fair is fast approaching too. It will be held on Oct. 20-22. Be looking for more information to follow about the Fair.

Please put these events on your calendar and come show support to our community.
