St. Paul Lutheran first school in county to begin new year

By CINDY MELCHER
St. Paul Lutheran School Principal

St. Paul Lutheran School in Thorndale opened its doors for the 122nd time on Wednesday, Aug. 17. Parents, teachers and students began the year with an opening worship service centering on the idea of “Fear not...God is with us.”

Afterwards, students were dismissed to their classrooms for a half-day session of orientation and instruction as they prepare for their first day of instructional learning on Thursday.

We are excited to welcome 96 students for this academic year. The faculty at St. Paul includes Crystal Iselt, PK3; Kelly Brymer, PK4 and preschool director; Calli McCoy, Kindergarten; Kristi Fischer, grades 1-2; Corey Moss, grades 3-4; Vanessa Garcia, grades 5-6; Jenny Williamson, Middle School math; Cindy Melcher, principal and middle school teacher.

The Family Activity center at St. Paul was filled with excited preschoolers and parents Monday night as they visited their classrooms and teachers for the first time. Their arms were filled with school supplies and other goodies as they navigated their new learning environment.

Cystal Islet, the PK3 teacher, has her classroom filled with bright crayon colors reminding families that God colors their lives every day. Kelly Brymer not only serves as the PK4 teacher she is also our preschool director. Her classroom took on a more “wild” look as she incorporated a jungle theme showing they are “WILD about God.” Parents also had a chance to meet Calli McCoy our new Kindergarten teacher and newest Early Childhood team member.

St. Paul Lutheran School offers an educationally based morning session for both 3’s and 4’s with an extended session in the afternoon for those who choose a full day experience. We have a few openings still available in PK3, but our PK4 is currently full. In all the excitement it was easy to tell this will be another great year for these young learners! For more information about our program, please contact the school office at 898-2711.

St. Paul Lutheran School is a state and nationally accredited school. It provides a Christian education to students in grades PK3-8th grade. The school not only offers a strong academic core and daily infusion of Christian principles, but we also include a solid music program as well as athletic teams for grades 5-8.
