Disciple Bible study ahead at St. John’s

St. John’s United Methodist Church invites Christians of any denomination to join in a Disciple Bible Study which will begin the week of Aug. 21 and be taught by Margo Gilless.

The study, she said, will be presented in two semesters. The first semester will be on the Old Testament and will take 17 weeks. The New Testament semester will begin in January, 2012 and will also last 17 weeks.

Cost of the study manual is $37. For more information on Disciple, or to register, call Gilless at 446-4757. She said participants will spend about 30 minutes a day reading the Bible and study manual.

The leader facilitates discussion. Video presentation features pastors, teachers and scholars with deep views of the theme of each lesson. The weekly classes will last approximately two and half hours.

“Disciple leads Christians to become stronger disciples through Bible study,” Gilless said. “This study gives the Old and New Testaments equal time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God and draws upon the work of scholars to aid understanding the Bible.”
