McGregor betters Rock Tuesday night on road
Nothing could better prepare the Rockdale Lady Tigers for their district ledger than participating in the second annual Copperas Cove Tournament, where some of the top teams in the state were present.
After Tuesday night’s loss to McGregor on the road, the Lady Tigers drop to 1-6 on the young season.

Spikers dump Academy in home opener
Milano defeated Academy on Tuesday night at Geneva Paceley Gym for Milano’s home opener of the young season.
The Lady Eagles (5-3) won in straight sets 25-20, 25-15, 25-16.
Senior Desiree Adrian led the team with nine kills, four digs and two aces, with fellow senior Brittany Barnett tagging six kills, four aces and two digs. Full Story
Lady Dogs ace Park
Thorndale defeated Austin Hyde Park on Tuesday at Bulldog Gym, winning 25-17, 25-21, 20- 25, 25-20.
The Lady Dogs (5-3) will take a break in action and return to play on Tuesday, Aug. 23 in Troy.
In the win over Hyde Park, junior Tamicka Cook found her groove, recording eight kills, three digs and one assists to lead the squad. Full Story
Dykes signs up to play for Iowa Lakes College
Former Milano Lady Eagle basketball star Ashleigh Dykes has signed up to play basketball at Iowa Lakes Community College.
Iowa Lakes has an enrollment of around 3,000 students and is located in Estherville, Iowa.
The Lakers (14-17 in 2011) recently hired a new basketball coach in Nicole Bullock and is a member of the National Junior College Association. Full Story
Hunting, fishing licenses on sale now for current year
TPWD issues 2.1 million licenses annually
Current year Texas hunting and fishing licenses (except year-todate fishing licenses) expire Aug. 31, and new licenses for 2011- 2012 went on sale Aug. 15.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department issues about 2.1 million hunting and fishing licenses annually through the agency’s 28 field offices, more than 65 state parks and at over 1,500 retailers across Texas. Full Story
